It's wonderful being a girl. So many times it's the little, seemingly-insignificant things that delight the feminine class. Perhaps this post may seem a bit rambled, but here are some of my favorite and enjoyable side effects to being feminine.
- The graceful movement of tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear while I type on my laptop in a cafe'.
- The mystery of having a smile teasing my lips as I shop for romaine lettuce and bell peppers.
- The dignified feeling that comes when I stand with my shoulders back and head slightly tilted upwards.
- Enjoying a spontaneous skip or hop every once in a while - no matter who sees.
- The soft scent of powder makeup.
- Wearing ribbon in my hair that was salvaged from the wrapping of the gift from my valentine.
- The swish of my skirt as I sit down in the car.
- The prim sound of heels clipping against the pavement.
- Knowing that a flower can immediately transform any hair catastrophe.
- The light reflected from sparkly jewelry.
- Walking through the fabric store and picking out my wedding colors.
- The ability to "brain laugh" when a boy gawks at my brightly colored rain boots.
- Ruffled necklines.
- The domestic feeling that surges through me when I put on an apron.
- Adding curlicues and swirlygigs to my writing.
- Silently reveling in the "please-clarify" look of the young man who takes my complicated order at Starbucks.
- The distinguished air that only women can hold.
I know there are more perks to being feminine out there - what are yours?

Even this post is full of feminine grace! It truly is a beautiful thing being a woman ♥
I think my favorite, out of your list, is...
"Enjoying a spontaneous skip or hop every once in a while - no matter who sees."
I'll confess, I do that often :)
I loved this... what a lovely reality... =)
I think I will send my dad the link to this... he doesn't understand these things; maybe this will help.
Added to most of yours (minus the smell of makeup, blech):
-The ability to emit a high-pitched, ear-piercing scream whenever desired.
-Being able to giggle properly.
-The intricacies of matching and putting an 'outfit' together.
-Running quickly but daintily down the stairs in a very very long skirt.
-Holding your pinkie out for EVERYTHING (even stirring the stew).
-The swish and tinkle of dangly earrings against my face.
I'm sure I could come up with millions more, but I'll let someone else have a turn now. :D
Laura: Being a woman not only is beautiful - it's tons of fun!
Hillary: I agree. :)
Andrea: Yay! You came up with more perks!
Screaming is so much fun!
Totally agree with giggling. Spot on.
As for the outfit, this is a favorite quote of mine in regards to clothing:
"When you get dressed everyday, think of it as an art project.”
Glenn O’Brien
Skirts + stairs = delectibly feminine combo.
Pinkies are an irreplaceable feminine asset.
You know about the earrrings.
I just now laughed so hard at Andrea's comment and your reply that tears came to my eyes. That is very hard, for your information. I SO agree about the stairs and skirts combo, by the way. :D And the skip/hop thing!! I do that all the time. hehe. And even I, who doesn't believe in screaming on a regular basis, think it can be quite fun. And amusing. ;)
I love this post! :D Duh... Was it inspired by that one conversation?
Now for some more:
-Randomly spinning about, just so you can watch your skirt ruffle and twirl and float
-Being able to find just exactly what your dad/brother wanted right away
-Filling in the appropriate details when your dad looks at you for them. :D
-Having long hair and letting it blow around in the breeze
-That delicious domestic feeling you get when you have your hair in a bun, a niceish dress on, and an apron you made yourself... while you cook or clean.
-Just the knowledge that our bodies can make and hold babies
-That really super special feeling you get when you are holding a sleeping baby against your chest and thinking about the possibility of you having one
-Confusing boys... just about any way you can. You girls know what I mean.
-Doing each other's hair all fancy
-Tea parties. Nice ones.
-Making things that are normally just blah into works of art. Like labels for things in the kitchen. (More on that coming on my pictures blog)
-Sitting and knitting/fill in your craft here while listening to classical music or something to that effect
Okay, I am going to stop... I probably could keep going for a long time too, like Andrea. ;)
Oh, this is such a sweet post. I absolutely love it!! Hmmm...
-Dainty-ly applying mascara as your mouth hangs slightly ajar.
- Reading those verses in scripture about the bride and the groom (aka us and God) and feeling like those verses were meant just for you.
- The refined feeling of good table manners.
- The natural motherly instincts that kick in when a baby cries or a child holds out his arms.
- Wearing things that don't necessarily match, but make me, me.
- Ribbons and hair curls.
- Dancing gracefully (or not so gracefully) when music is played.
- The magical knowledge of knowing that one day you might make a man a very happy husband.
This was a beautiful post.
I love this post as well. It makes me very thankful to be a young lady. :) Let's see.. here are some I thought of..
- Writing notes with a pink pen.
- The simple elegance of wearing pearls.
- Holding my Daddy's hand and leaning against his arm in the middle of the mall.. and watching people stare.
- The accomplished feeling you get after successfully serving a warm, hearty dinner to your family.
- Charm bracelets.
- A bouquet of flowers by your bedside.
- Color coding the clothes in your closet, just to see the pretty blend of colors.
- Shopping with your mother.
- Pouring out your heart to your Savior in a pretty, blossom - covered, journal.
I'm sure there are more... these are a few that came to mind.
Oh! Another one!
-Letting your [long] hair blow around in the breeze
Annnnd...
-Being able to change your looks so much... just by doing your hair differently or wearing different styles.
-Being so versatile: we can run around like crazy shooting people with nerf guns, or we can be all dainty and ladylike and knit.
Hey! Can I compile all this? And then post it on my blog too?
I love this! I found your blog via the Rebelution forum. It made me smile and I agree- the thoughts and comments are lovely and make me grateful to be a woman. A few perks to me are
-Pearls... they are feminine and fun to wear
-Wearing cute dresses in summer
-Definitely giggling when successfully confusing a boy
-The motherly instincts we have as girls
-Dreaming about being a mom and wife someday
-And looking at bridal mags occasionally with my sister and making a comment on every thing we see
Love your blog, plan to follow it!
